„Postavil se zlu a stal se legendou“
Amerika šest století před první Kolumbovou cestou. Na klidné pobřeží přijíždějí vikingští nájezdníci a bezohledně
plení, zabíjejí a zotročují. Stejně náhle jak se objeví, tak také zmizí, a zůstane po nich jen malý, nebojácný chlapec.
Toho se ujme jeden z indiánských kmenů a daruje mu domov, lásku, lovecké schopnosti a jméno Duch.
O patnáct let později se temní seveřané vracejí a ohrožují hrdinův kmen. S pomocí indiánského
šamana se mladý hrdina vydává na ostrý souboj s přesilou, který na dobro určí budoucnost
těch, kteří ho mezi sebe přijali.
Vizuálně velmi propracovaný film proti sobě staví temné, chladné a nekompromisní vikingské válečníky a přirozené,
otevřené Indiány. Ti se samozřejmě jen těžko mohou bránit nájezdu daleko vyspělejší a agresivnější civilizace.
Hlavní hrdina je pak člověkem stojícím mezi těmito dvěma světy, jehož úkolem je ochránit svou novou rodinu.
Film vznikl zároveň i jako komiks a právě tato stylizace ho staví nad žánr historického filmu směrem k akční
podívané. Je však natočený v reálném prostředí okolo Vancouveru v Kanadě, což z něj dělá klasickou
akční podívanou ve velkém stylu, kterou v současných kinech diváci jen těžko hledají.
Jako jeden z mála filmů také vychází z legend o dávných objevitelích Nového světa.
